MCP expands maintainer team: AWS's Clare Liguori, Anthropic's Den Delimarsky

MCP promotes Den Delimarsky to Lead Maintainer (with David Soria Parra) and adds AWS's Clare Liguori as Core Maintainer under Agentic AI Foundation.

Model Context Protocol expanded its maintainer team. Clare Liguori (AWS, agentic AI dev tooling) joined as a Core Maintainer; Den Delimarsky (Anthropic, Security IG co-lead) was promoted to Lead Maintainer alongside David Soria Parra. Governance sits under the Agentic AI Foundation.

Practitioner note

Slightly inside-baseball but load-bearing. MCP went from “Anthropic-led emerging standard” to a multi-vendor governed protocol over the past year. Adding an AWS Core Maintainer is a meaningful neutrality signal — Amazon now has a governance seat.

Why you should care: when MCP ratifies SEPs (Standard Enhancement Proposals) for things like resource-level permissions, sampling protocols, or tool-call audit, those decisions affect every MCP server you build. The maintainer composition determines whose use cases get prioritized. AWS is a heavy MCP server consumer (Bedrock, Lambda integrations) so having them at the table tilts priorities toward enterprise-IAM-style features.
